Chinese Bilingual Program – Kindergarten Parent Information Night
If you are interested in registering your child(ren) in the Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual Program, Edmonton Public School Board is hosting a Chinese Bilingual Program – Parent Information Session on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the Centre for Education, 1 Kingsway Avenue. The purpose is for parents/caregivers to learn about Kindergarten in the Chinese Bilingual Program at Caernarvon, Dovercourt, Kildare, Meadowlark, Meyonohk and Parkallen Elementary schools. Subjects will include:
School Pre-enrolment, Registration dates, Busing, Boundaries, Random Selection, Student & Family Supports and a Question and Answer period
Chinese New Year of the Pig Celebration
The Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association (ECBEA) invites everyone to our 11th Chinese New Year Celebration on Saturday, January 26 at Bonnie Doon Centre (82 Avenue & 83 Street) from 11 am to 4 pm. With over 300 performers and over 100 volunteers, carnival and cultural games, face painting, balloon animals (pigs this year!) and more to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Pig. Expect colourful entertainment on the stage with performers and musicians from Edmonton’s 13 Chinese Bilingual schools and community cultural groups.
Edmonton’s Foodbank will be collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations, including donations accepted at our ‘Wishing Mountain’ and ‘Fortune Sticks’

11th Annual ECBEA Awards Celebration
Who would have believed that an upstart language learning experience in a prairie city would become the “best Chinese language program outside of China”? Edmonton’s Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual Program offered in 13 Edmonton public schools boasts over 2000 students learning Chinese language, history and culture. With the dynamic support of the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association, the program is trending toward record enrollments. Chinese language acquisition is a fun, challenging, stimulating and fulfilling educational experience. Come honour our exemplary students being recognized for academic excellence, leadership, sports, service, culture, music, writing and performance arts at the 11th Annual ECBEA Awards Ceremony on June 9, 2019, Sunday, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, City Hall, 1 Sir Winston Churchill Square
